Working with Grahams Group and architects Studio RHE, we combined all our collective skills across both our holding company BWC Ltd and Fire Door Experts Ltd for both an extensive bespoke carpentry and joinery package and a fire doors package.
This 2 year project started off with a bit of a challenge to get large 300mm x 300mm timber upstands, 6 metres long, procured from Latvia, craned onto the roof so as to fix them to the CLT deck for the supporting members for the curtain walling.
These huge timbers required specialist 800mm long timber fixings from Rothoblass in Italy, with 24 fixings fixed every 600mm centres! Several thousand fixings and many weeks later, all curtain wall upstands were in place and fixed securely to the CLT deck, ready for the curtain walling to be installed.

As the project progressed, alongside our contractual Bill of Quantities package for carpentry and joinery and fire doors, due to the highly skilled nature of our site ninjas and the speed at which our office can work out problems and procure materials, we were tasked with many variations to bring this fantastic building and its design to life.
Scope of Works
- Curtain wall upstands.
- Construction of roof risers and the supply, fit and commissioning of roof vents and AOV’s to the roof risers.
- Supply and installation of Hyperion composite decking system from Envirobuild.
- Supply and fit of over 130 factory finished timber fire doors and frames from Humphrey and Stretton PLC. To include cycle store doors with integrated glazed screens.
- Supply and fit of anti-microbial ironmongery from Poole Waite.
- Supply and fit of cedar cladding slats to the WC lobby ceilings.
- On site design and fabrication of suspended lift lobby ceiling UV lighting panels
- Supply and fit of cedar cladding to the reception column surrounds, to include a bespoke secret fixing detail.
- Supply, fit and intricate installation of bespoke timber window reveals and surrounds to seamlessly tie into the CLT clad walls.
